Job Description

Talasaea Consultants, a well-established environmental planning and design firm in Woodinville, WA, seeks a senior landscape architect to join our small group of landscape architects, planners, and ecologists/biologists. Our projects range in size and complexity and include multi-family and single family residential communities, and retail, commercial, and industrial developments. Projects often involve wetland and stream mitigation, including creation, enhancement, and restoration activities. We are looking for a solution-oriented, budget-conscience individual that can prioritize and delegate effectively, and that values collaboration and a team approach. The ideal candidate will be managing a small team of landscape designers for a diverse clientele on projects from site planning to design conception, and through construction-level permitting documents. This person will coordinate with both internal and external team members across several disciplines, as well as with clients, government officials, and contractors as part of the design and permitting process. Responsibilities will include construction oversight and management. The successful candidate must have private sector consulting experience with both landscape and open space design, as well as with mitigation/restoration of natural areas.

Job Requirements

Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture; Master's degree preferred; Landscape architecture license or in progress; Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Wetland and stream mitigation/restoration, Site landscape and open space design, Site planning; Knowledge of planting design, construction materials, irrigation and lighting systems, construction principles, grading, drainage, and technical aspects of landscape architecture; Knowledge of natural systems design with emphasis on Pacific Northwest plant communities; Strong design skills, including conceptual sketching and drafting; Experience through all phases of design and construction documents; Demonstrated ability in reviewing/preparing Construction Documents + Specifications; Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Office; Commitment to self-improvement with a positive, can-do attitude; Strong communication, organizational, and technical writing skills; Good working knowledge of Federal, State, and local codes and ordinances applicable to both critical areas and landscape requirements; Detail-oriented.
