Here's a recap of WASLA Activity during the month of July:
SBI Management Transition In the month of July we began our new association with SBI Management Services. On July 24th we met the entire SBI team during our quarterly strategic planning meeting. We are very excited about the new capabilities they can bring to our organization. Currently, Eastern Washington Representative Laura Thompson is working with SBI on the new website migration. Conference Committee Second, we kicked off our 2015 Conference Committee. Our annual conference will occur in the spring, in Wenatchee. Editor's Note Stephanie Stroud
It is so wonderful to see so much going on across the State! We are excited to include Laura Thompson's announcement about activity in Eastern Washington, and we have upcoming events that will be happening all around our corner of the country! Be sure to keep an eye out for future announcements.
We also have the list of UW National Award winners, with additional comments from jury members. As I was reading the comments, I found that what is interesting to me is how ideas in the profession shift with each new crop of graduates. Read more>>

I've learned so much about the L.A. profession through my involvement in WASLA; I've grown tremendously as a person; and, I've met some truly amazing people who are passionate about landscape architecture and dedicated to spreading the knowledge of our profession...Read More>>

Support the Kenichi Nakano Endowed Scholarship Fund for Landscape Architecture
 |
For over four decades, Kenichi Nakano graced the Pacific Northwest with exceptionally subtle and inviting modernist design, generously contributed to community and civic life, and mentored generations of students and professionals of all disciplines.
On August 8, 2012, we lost our teacher, mentor, and friend all too soon. Your gift in memory of Kenichi to the Kenichi Nakano Endowed Scholarship Fund will leave a lasting legacy and support outstanding students in the University of Washington's Department of Landscape Architecture.

UW Landscape Architecture Internship Practicum Portal
The Landscape Department at the University of Washington has been working hard on providing its students with valuable resources that can better connect them with local employers for internships and practicum opportunities.
Prior to developing these resources we sent a survey to our local employer list to get feedback on what firms wanted and if they would use specific resources. We took this information and over the summer developed a space where employers can submit internships and practicums and positions to a page that is only accessible by our students.
