Job Description

Talasaea Consultants, Inc. is an environmental planning and design firm, located on the Eastside, seeking a landscape architect to join our small group of landscape architects, planners, and ecologists/biologists. Our projects range in size and complexity and include multi-family and single-family residential communities, and retail, commercial, and industrial developments. Projects involve wetland and stream mitigation, including creation, enhancement, and restoration activities, landscape design, and recreation and open space design. We are looking for a solution-oriented, budget-conscience individual that can prioritize and delegate effectively, and that values collaboration and a team approach. The ideal candidate will assist in the management of a small team of landscape designers for a diverse clientele on projects from site planning to design conception, and through construction-level permitting documents. This person will coordinate with both internal and external team members across several disciplines, as well as with clients, government officials, and contractors as part of the design and permitting process. Responsibilities will also include construction oversight for mitigation and landscape installation. The successful candidate must have private sector consulting experience with mitigation/restoration of natural areas, as well as with more traditional site landscape and open space designs.

Job Requirements

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture.
  • Landscape architecture license or in progress.
  • Minimum six (6) years of experience:
    • Wetland and stream mitigation/restoration;
    • Site landscape and open space design;
    • Site planning.
  • Knowledge of natural systems design with emphasis on Pacific Northwest plant communities.
  • Knowledge of planting design, construction materials, irrigation, construction principles, grading, drainage, and technical aspects of landscape architecture.
  • Strong design skills, including conceptual sketching and drafting.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability in reviewing/preparing construction documents + specifications
  • Proficiency in the following programs: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and technical writing skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Federal, State, and local codes and ordinances applicable to both critical areas and landscape requirements.
