Description:

After discovering the principles of natural pool design, learn how to apply them in a real design example. On Saturday, visit a backyard pool and perform a design charette to transform a conventional system into a natural pool. The charette will take an in-depth look at our preconceptions of swimming pools and analyze the variety of ways we can integrate a natural swimming pool into its environment.

Learning Objectives:

• Incorporate a natural pool into the contemporary landscape
• Apply the necessary components for operation of natural swimming pools
• Investigate the nutrient cycle and its role in maintaining clear water
• Learn how transform a chlorinated pool into a natural pool

Required: Bring a sketchpad and a large drawing implement. If there is any chance of rain, please bring an umbrella.
