Climate Action Committee - StipendClimate Action Vision Development Stipend The Climate Action Vision Development Stipend is a new project managed by the WASLA Climate Action Committee that creates opportunities for landscape architecture students to build their resumes and advance the priority work of the committee. This first iteration of the stipend position is a pilot program that supports a university student to lead in analyzing the connection between landscape architecture and climate action in Washington and developing a strategic approach to advancing climate action for professionals in the state. The recipient of the Fall 2025 Climate Action Vision Development Stipend will provide the following deliverables, all of which are based on the recently completed WASLA Climate Action Survey of over 30 professionals:
The student will be connected with a primary mentor from the Climate Action Committee who will provide guidance during scheduled check-ins with the student. The student is also welcomed to connect with the larger committee during monthly meetings. The schedule for the stipend begins in October and wraps up in December 2025, with the student performing approximately 40 hours of analysis, graphics, and recommendation work before the end of 2025. The stipend award is capped at $1000 total and will be paid in parts on a monthly basis. Funding for the stipend is subject to official WASLA board approval on October 20th though no objections are anticipated. The selected recipient will meet with one or more members of the Climate Action Committee 2-3 times during the course of the stipend for guidance: Draft Schedule
This is an exciting opportunity for the stipend recipient to develop industry-leading knowledge of sustainable design and climate-action priorities, while equipping WASLA with a clear, action-ready understanding of next steps and focus areas to advance climate action work. |
