Job Description
SCJ’s Wenatchee office is an active, dynamic, and creative design and planning team, focused on civil and transportation engineering, site design, recreation design, planning, and landscape architecture. We are seeking a skilled and energetic landscape designer or landscape architect to perform professional-level planning and site and graphic design tasks. Working in Wenatchee offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, both collaboratively and as the lead. Examples of projects the team is currently leading are:
- Crescent Bar Recreation Area - Quincy, WA
- Project elements: Campgrounds, picnic and trail plazas, multi-modal trails, playgrounds, sport courts, commercial areas, boat launch and parking facilities, site design, landscaping, irrigation, perspective renderings, and exhibits for permitting and public events.
- RiverWalk and Susie Stephens Trails - Winthrop, WA
- Project elements: Multi-use trail, environmental permitting, concept drawings, bank stabilization, and mitigation strategies.
- Spanish Castle Resort - Rock Island, WA
- Project elements: Land use planning, conceptual designs, landscaping, and site design.
- East Wenatchee Gateway – East Wenatchee, WA
- Project elements: Developing visual concepts, cost estimating, and conducting open house events and public surveys.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (The intent of this list is to provide information regarding the types of duties of the position, but it is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities.)
- Communicate with design team members
- Assist in the management of individual projects and drawing production
- Perform site inventory and analysis including onsite investigations and mapping
- Research code, regulations, or standards
- Develop programs, schematics, and concepts for site development, road, and trail corridors projects.
- Draft and develop design drawings and construction documents (by hand and utilizing CAD, Adobe, and LandFX software programs)
- Develop construction specifications
- Perform construction observation, review shop drawings, and complete materials submittals
- Deliver/retrieve project materials either on foot or by automobile
- Design/develop communication materials (graphics, hand, or computer)
- Assist in the maintenance of project files (paper and digital)
- Assist in the maintenance of digital file storage
- Assist in the maintenance of digital libraries of graphic symbols, cad details, etc.
- Meet all standards as outlined by Washington State Statutes (RCW) and Administrative Codes (WAC) specific to an individual profession regulated by state licensure if already licensed, or be actively engaged in pursuing your landscape architecture license
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from a college or university accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB)
- Three or more years of experience (preferred) practicing landscape design or landscape architecture
- Experience utilizing Autodesk and LandFX, MS Office, GIS, and Adobe Creative Suite
- If licensed, a landscape architecture license in the primary state of planned practice or a Council of Landscape Architecture Registration Board (CLARB) record in good standing
Special Requirements/Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Work is primarily performed in an office setting, however you will go on site visits to potential projects and/or to see the progression of active projects in the field where conditions vary, including active construction sites
- Requires operating office machines such as, but not limited to, computers, copiers, phones, plotters and scanners
- A valid Washington State Driver’s License is required
