Job Description

MAKERS architecture and urban design is a community planning and urban design firm providing consulting services to a variety of community, government, institutional, and military clients through our offices in Seattle and San Diego. Our strategic, master, and community plans are completed collaboratively by teams of architects, planners, landscape architects, designers, GIS professionals, graphic designers, and other related disciplines. MAKERS’ federal planning team has an opportunity in our Seattle office for an architect or landscape architecture designer to join our military facility planning team. Candidates will participate in stakeholder interviews; existing conditions documentation and analysis; facility and space needs development; alternative development and scenario evaluation; campus master planning; and urban design with an emphasis on production of high-quality graphics, documents, and presentations.

Job Requirements

Background experience or degree in architecture or landscape architecture is preferred. All candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills. Candidate will be responsible for data/information organization and presentation, concept generation, graphic illustrations (diagrams, facility layout plans, site plans, etc.) graphic design of reports/studies and presentation materials, written content, and document production. We are seeking a team member who has the abilities to:

• Communicate ideas and concepts clearly
• Design effectively at a planning-level
• Research and analyze issues and alternatives
• Work efficiently on multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Periodic travel may be required. High level of proficiency with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS is required for this position. Experience with Rhino 3D Modeler and Maxwell Rendering Software is preferred. 1-2 years of experience preferred. Entry-level candidates that can demonstrate a strong understanding of practices typical of a professional design office will also be considered. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
